Chapter 1 - Miami, 1976: Nine Up with People casts with members from 42 states and 17 countries played in 771 cities during America's bicentennial year. "In preparation for the Super Bowl show,” said choreographer Lynne Morris, “we divided the field into sections, so wherever they were, a cast could rehearse. It was like fitting puzzles together in different parts of the country, and then coming to Miami to put all the little puzzles together into one great big one."

First Modern Super Bowl

The first modern Super Bowl halftime show was launched by Up with People in America's bicentennial year. The global TV audience was 90 million, not a few of whom already knew the show's musical founders, The Colwell Brothers and Herb Allen.
